Gareth’s career in the built environment began as an Architectural Technologist in Belfast before bringing him to Australia and a decade with EJE Architecture in Newcastle. Over more than 25 years, his career has evolved from architectural documentation into specialist specification consultancy, with experience spanning Australia, the UK, Ireland, Europe and the Middle East. He also holds a Master of Science in Construction and Project Management, complementing his technical background with a broader understanding of project delivery and coordination.
Gareth is passionate about the role good specifications play in turning design intent into successful built outcomes. His approach combines technical rigour with collaboration and practical problem-solving, helping design teams navigate compliance, procurement, sustainability and construction risk. He also has a strong interest in digital specification workflows and improving how project information is structured, coordinated and communicated.
Away from specifications, Gareth enjoys life with his wife, four children and their six-year-old Jack Russell. He supports his wife at the Vinnies Islington shop and is actively involved in his church and local community, with a particular passion for supporting refugees and people experiencing disadvantage or living on the fringes of the community.
