Jon qualified as an Architect at the University of Cape Town, completing as a Chartered Architect with RIBA in London.
He had a distinguished career in partnership for many years in Zimbabwe, as lead consultant for landmark projects including government hospitals and housing, WHO African HQ, new schools and a new university, and involvement with the Architects Institute and Council including running professional examinations and award events and judging.
Since moving to Brisbane in early 2000’s he has had significant architectural and construction experience, including several years as an Architect/Project Manager for a developer/builder firm, Construction Manager with a commercial fit-out contractor, several years as an Owner/Director of a project development company and Project Lead with various architectural practices.
Since 2017, Jon has been writing specifications as a sub-consultant, contributing to well over a hundred projects. He has prepared specifications for all building types and sectors, including mega-projects in the rail, health, sports, residential and public institution projects. This includes advising architects on project procurement, product selection and building work compliance.
When not writing specifications, Jon spends time in the workshop designing and making furniture and collecting and renovating Hans Wegner and other Danish mid-century modern furniture.
